Camera Club Competitions

As some of you may know, I am a member of the Ipswich Photographic Society ( http://ipswichphotosociety.org/member-gallery ) have been for almost 3 years. I just thought I would share with you some recent achievements regarding my Portrait Photography.

In the month of March we were asked to submit our best Portraits, come April we met for our monthly critique night. This is where a Certified Judge visits our club to Judge all of the members images in front of everyone. This was quite daunting to me when I first joined but I really enjoy learning from others critiques. I was quite successful and received 3 Honours and 1 Merit. I also won Image of the the night!! Wow! I was so happy since this genre of Photography is what I love best. Blow are the 4 images I submitted. The first image of the gorgeous little baby who's name is Willow won image of the night. The Judge LOVED the sun flare behind her (which I might add is real).

Fast forward to April's Submissions (judged in May) with the set subject as 'creative'. This was the perfect challenge for me. I submitted 4 Creative Portraits. I was totally blown away when I received 4/4 Honours & IMAGE OF THE NIGHT for the second month in a row!!! It could not have gone any better....I was over the moon! The image that won Image of the Night is the first one below and it is one I created of my daughter who loves all things fairies. Every one who see's it loves it and I even get requests from clients to create something similar for their little girls.

The club competitions are by no means at the competition level as some Photographic organisations out there but in a local club filled with between 50 & 60 talented Photographers this is still a great achievement and something worth sharing since so many of you have trusted me to capture important milestones and family memories. It can only get better from here and I will continue to create beautiful portraits for many years to come.
